Buffalo police officers have been mad as heck over the fact that the city's Control Board has prevented them from receiving pay raises over the past three years.
Now the question is, are they going to continue to take it?
In 2002, the PBA agreed to a five year deal with the city. Under the agreement, the union made a number of concessions, including going to one man patrol cars, and in return officers were supposed to receive raises of 3.4% per year.
Having gone without the raises for the past three years now, the union has taken to the airwaves to protest its plight.
It's bought commercial time on WWKB Radio. One of the spots says, "How would you feel if your company said 'no more raises and what's more, you can't strike to gain those rights.'"
The union will be in court at the end of September, arguing that because the terms of their contract with the city have been changed, cops should be permitted to strike.
At arouind that same time, Mayor Byron Brown will appear before the Control Board. Brown says he'll present a plan that reduces city spending. In return, Brown is hoping the Board will permit him to include raises for police officers in next year's city budget.
